I loved...all the classes I’ve taken with Rosie. I particularly like the lecture portion of the class - being a former engineer, it’s always so much easier for me to follow instructions/recipes if I understand the whys rather than following [them] blindly.
The food was delicious, the recipes easy to follow and unique, and the instruction informative and encouraging. Rosie is a great teacher and chef who challenges and empowers her students to reach new cooking heights!
Rosie offers patient, consistent, and persistent instruction and guidance in everything from the basics of cooking method to the principles of nutrition.
I just love the approach - the science behind the food and then the actual preparation of the food. The mood was festive and joyful. I’m not a cook, and even I could follow the recipes...Well done.
NUTRITION SERVICES
Rosie offers nutrition consultation based on the needs and health goals of each individual and also provides education to groups. She understands how deeply rooted habits can be and works with her clients to design menus tailored to their tastes and lifestyles. In addition to the nutritional focus, she takes a holistic approach that addresses stress-reduction and physical activity.
What we put into our bodies has everything to do with the way we think, feel, and negotiate our environments. One may be surprised to find out how closely related the symptoms he or she is experiencing are with foods being eaten (or not eaten). Every person is an individual with specific dietary and lifestyle needs, and with the amount of (mis)information that exists it is increasingly more difficult to identify the foods one needs to achieve and maintain optimum health.
Education is at the heart of her practice—empowerment of the individual, fundamentally providing them an understanding of their own nutritional needs.
NUTRITION PHILOSOPHY
Address the specific nutritional requirements of the individual
Maximize whole foods in the diet, naturally outcompeting processed foods
Eat a wide variety of seasonal, mostly locally-grown, organic foods
Everything in moderation
Enjoyment in eating
NUTRITION CONSULTING & SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
HELLO!
Rosie has worked in commercial kitchens and in the catering business for over a decade, while helping people lead healthier lives through nutritional consulting backed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry from UC Berkeley, a Master’s Degree in Holistic Nutrition from Hawthorn University, and her own personal experience of overcoming health challenges. She is currently the Director of Academics and a faculty member at Bauman College, Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts.
She approaches instruction in the culinary arts by teaching the science behind the basics to empower students with a deep understanding of cooking techniques. Students take these techniques to create dishes beyond recipes across a myriad of cuisines. The excitement of those ah-ha’s of delight is what drives her to share her knowledge widely.
From her nutritional background and science based teaching, she serves up a delicious celebration of the Bay Area’s bounty and one of the best health improvement plans money can’t buy.
